Good morning! I have missed connecting with you more this week. But, blogging only twice instead of three times eased up my schedule a lot. It turns out that in addition to the kitty drama at my house, I’ve also been fighting a bug (not that I used the extra time to rest or anything). 🙂
Vegan Healthy Taste of Ventura:
If you are or around the Los Angeles area this weekend, consider attending the Healthy Taste of Ventura. I’ll be there, along with Chef AJ, Dr. Greger, and many other vegan superstars (you can read about my experience at the Healthy Taste of LA here). I can’t wait!!!
Mountain Rose Herb Giveaway:
We had another huge number of entrants for this giveaway. I’m glad so many people are interested in the fantastic products from Mountain Rose Herbs; I am excited to be an affiliate for the company which means you can support me by using this link to purchase items. Thank you in advance.
I used the random number selector to pick a winner from the 137 entrants. The winner is Veronica at Veggie V’s Vegan Adventure (comment #65) who said in response to my question about what she would like from Mountain Rose Herbs:
“I’ve been stalking Mountain Rose Herbs for years, but I’ve yet to purchase anything. What would I buy? Everything! LOL”
Congrats, Veronica, and I hope you enjoy your herbal coffee, amla powder, and aroma spray.

Healthy Vegan Challenge Update:
Believe it or not, but our Spring 2013 Healthy Vegan Challenge is drawing to a close. As of this weekend, we have two weeks left. At the last tally on the Facebook group, Challengers had lost over 200 pounds combined. Wowsa! Why this wasn’t a weight loss challenge for everyone, I am beyond thrilled that people are eating healthier, feeling fabulous, and reaching goals. I am also very pleased to announce that a Summer Healthy Vegan Challenge is in the works; details coming soon.
Native Foods Interview:
One of my favorite vegan eateries is Native Foods Cafe, and I was lucky enough to be interviewed for their April 2013 newsletter. Read my thoughts on the increasing popularity of veganism, what I would serve to aliens if they landed in my backyard, and my favorite vegan book (you get one guess) by clicking on the April, 2013 newsletter here.
I am in an interesting part of my MPH project right now, transitioning from the research to the analysis and writing. I also found out on Wednesday that I received a grant to support my work on vegetarian nutrition and disease which is very exciting, although it kind of adds more to the pressure, ya know? Because next week is also going to be quite busy, I will plan to blog on Wednesday and Friday. I’ll miss connecting with you on Monday, but I already have some cool stuff planned for the blog next week and think it will be worth waiting for.
Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to keep in touch with me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Instagram. And, to get over 80 0f my favorite whole food, vegan recipes in a cool, digital format, be sure to download my app, Vegan Delish, on the iTunes store.
Happy, healthy eating!
