Plant milk like unsweetened almond milk, hemp milk, pumpkin seed milk, cashew milk, or coconut milk all work in this recipe. You can use either boxed or homemade.

Maple syrup or dates help add some additional sweetness.

Cocoa powder or cacao powder adds that rich chocolate flavor without any sugar. Dark chocolate is very healthy since it is very high in antioxidants and magnesium. Use can also use any of the substitutes in my article on the Best Substitutes for Cocoa Powder.

Strawberries and banana add thickness, fiber, and natural sweetness. You can use either fresh or frozen fruit in this recipe.

Please see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements.

Recipe Steps

Step One

Place your milk, strawberries, bananas, cocoa powder, and maple syrup in the pitcher of a high speed blender.

Yes, you can! It may not be as smooth, but it will still be delicious.

What kind of protein powder do you recommend?
