Healthy Vegan Challenge:
If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know I also host an event called the Healthy Vegan Challenge. The event runs in 6-week increments and it’s a way for you to set goals and find support. While you don’t have to be vegan to join, it is encouraged that you try moving in that direction during the Challenge. Your goals don’t even have to be food-related, I set a goal of meditating for 10 minutes a day during a previous go-around.
As you can see from the photo, the next Challenge starts Monday, August 26th, and will run through October 6th. I don’t tend to write much about it on my blog, but the real support happens in the Facebook group. You can join here.
Rip Esselstyn’s New Book:
I wrote a review of Rip Esselsyn’s new book, My Beef With Meat: The Healthiest Argument for Eating a Plant-Strong Diet. My review was published yesterday on the Our Hen House website, you can read it here. Besides having a semi-crush on Rip ‘cuz he’s a big, strong, vegan man, I really like his style of writing and approachability. If you are trying to convince any big, strong men in your life to consider changing their eating habits, this book might be the ticket.
In addition to the engaging commentary, there are some fantastic recipes in this book. Head on over to my review and you’ll be treated to recipes for Kale Butter (not to be missed, it’s my new favorite kale recipe since kale chips) and a Mango-Cherry Ice Cream. Again, the link to my review is here.
