Hi there! I just spent the early morning re-reading all of the amazing comments you left on Monday’s blog post for the Booda Butter giveaway. I got such great feedback from all of you on the future of this blog, as well as really supportive and sweet comments. I wish I could respond to each them, but please know that I read them at least twice and several of the messages brought tears to my eyes because they were so kind. Alternatively, some of them were very witty and made me laugh out loud. So, thank you!!!

All of the information that all of you gave me was so helpful! I ended up making a little chart with a tally of what everyone likes, as well as suggestions for changes:

Photo Food Journal:

Since today is Wednesday, I’m sharing pictures of all of the food I ate yesterday.

Yesterday morning’s breakfast was a green smoothie with broccoli sprouts:

I’ve been trying to cut back on the amount of pineapple chunks in my smoothies, and that seems to help reduce my sugar cravings. Here was my serving amongst the various fruit bowls on my countertop:

After that chilly meal, I had a mug of Dandy Blend with some soy milk to warm up:

Lunch was a salad with a peanut butter dressing made using these ingredients:

I pretty much just whisked together the vinegars, soy milk and peanut butter until I had a dressing-like consistency. My salad had romaine, broccoli slaw, garbanzo beans, peanuts, beets and scallions:

Dinner wasn’t too exciting, I just heated up some leftover cooked vegetables and topped it with guacamole:

It was a good food day, I felt hungry before my meals and satisfied at the end.

Chia Seed Giveaway!

    WOW! Congrats to the winners! And another giveaway!? YAY! I LOVE Chia Seeds and will be posting more about them soon! I’m currently using Black Chia Seeds! I’m trying to expand my Chia Seed Horizons tho! LOL :) I hope my blog will be a nice spot check for those adventures/journeys! I noticed the Broccoli Sprouts! Nice! Great way to use them! I just started sprouting some last night! I hope to post more about the progress in the next few days! I have LOTS in my post today

    Hi Carrie!

    I love chia seeds, my youngest son gave me a “chia pet” little dog when he was in high school. Funny thing is we grew the sprouts but never thought to eat them back in the SAD days.

    I think the fact that people love your honesty on this blog shows maybe the world is finally changing for the better. I’m going to continue to think that. :-)

    I love how you introduce new products and I usually try them with great success.

    Keep up the great work, I could read your blog EVERYDAY but I know you need to get others things accomplished too!

    I LOVE Chia Seeds and use them all the time. I’ve only tried the black ones though. A 2lb bag would be awesome! I love your blog and read it all the time. I am especially happy for you that you were already plant-based before your cancer emerged! And of course, happy for you that you are doing so well! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. I am a newbie at the vegan thing and still making strides to be 100% and earn the title vegan! You’ve certainly helped me get there! My favorite is your addictive kale salad! LOVE! Now I just need to lose more weight before my wedding day in May! grrr

    Love chia seeds in a green smoothie after a long run! I enjoy reading your honest approach to this lifestyle! I really enjoy your creative recipes and your vegan delish app which I have on my laptop! My favorite recipe are the avocado dressings! I always look forward to reading your new blogs!     I commented yesterday but I didn’t think you should go without some comment love today…so here are my two cents :)

    Which is really just a question. The “dandy blend” where do you pick that up? Is it like a tea? I ask because I have Victoria Boutenko’s book on Green Smoothies and it often calls for dandelion. I have no idea where to buy that and didn’t know if this “dandy blend” could be a good substitute? Any suggestions?

      Hi Rachel! Sorry it took me awhile to respond to your question. The Dandy Blend is available at most health food stores and the website has a store locater: https://www.dandyblend.com.

      I don’t know think this product would be used as a substitute for dandelion greens, it is more of a coffee alternative. :)

    I’m very new to the plant-based eating lifestyle. I use your blog and your pinterest as a tool for information and inspiration, in fact, I was inspired to purchase Dr. Furhman’s Eat to Live book a few weeks ago and I currently read it during my lunch breaks at work.

    I’ve tried Chia seeds a few times, but I’ve only tried the black chia seeds. I especially enjoy making chocolate chia pudding!

    Your blog always inspires me! Keep up the great work!!!

    I’ve been meaning to ask where you buy your frozen cherries? I can’t seem to find them (pitted anyway) anywhere! I’ve made your tahini cherry dessert using mixed berries/cherries from Trader Joe’s, which turned out delicious, but there were those annoying little seeds from the blackberries! Also, I found out the “hard” way that you pretty much have to eat it in one sitting, because freezing it turns it into a block of ice! Lol! Thanks!

      Hi Carla! I found organic frozen cherries at Costco recently and I have been hoarding them…I must have 10 pounds in my freezer! :)

      You can also find them at health food stores, but they are really expensive. Yeah, I forgot to mention that the ice cream needs to be eaten at once or you will get that “block of ice” situation. You can always de-frost it in the fridge for an hour or so before you plan to eat it, but I think it’s best right out of the Vitamix.

    Love, love, love chia. I use it daily, and the cheapest way to go is ordering in bulk.

    The last time I ordered, Don didn’t have any “regular” chia, so he sent me white seeds…and now I’m hooked! They’re only a few dollars more, and I think the taste is a bit milder and less bitter.

    Cha Cha Chia! Love those little seeds! And your blog. Really inspirational, helps to keep me on the right track. And responding to your last entry, you were asking for other suggestions to use in cookies rather than maple syrup- I like brown rice syrup in baking. I am not sure health-wise if it’s any better than maple though.

    I would love to try the chia seeds. I noticed a few days ago that Trader Joe’s now sells them, but after looking at the price I bought my usual flaxseed instead!

    Chia seeds are my go-to seed when I travel, since you don’t have to worry about grinding them up. And I also just LOVE the yummy chia seed puddings you can create with them!

    Showing up late for the blog feedback – but I LOVE a good backstory! Would love to know more about how you and Alan met, got married, etc. (if not too nosy) As you converted to eating Vegan/following Dr. Furhman, what was his process – was he “all in” or did it take him a bit longer.

    just finished first six weeks on Eat to Live (being mostly good!) – haven’t noticed any particular health changes, but the clothes are looser. :)

    Regarding your popcorn post from last week – I have been using this tip from the internet. Put popcorn in a brown lunch size paperbag, fold over twice and microwave (put bag seam side down). My microwave takes about 1 min 40 sec – healthy, fast and no need for bulky air popper in my house. I think the popcorn tastes very close to oil popped!
